Arena Racing in Richmond
Each year, Richmond has a 15 event car
racing season! The racing began full time in 2011 at the Richmond Coliseum. The
season runs from late Fall to Spring. Ricky Dennis is the founder with Joe
Gibbs as one of the investors. Talk about a fun evening with the family-
watching these little cars lap the high banked track at The Coliseum in less
than 8 seconds.
Arena Racing is affordable entertainment
for the entire family. Even if you are not a race fan you will very likely have
a fun time. The cars are half scale stock cars that race around a hockey rink
sized track at speeds of over 50 miles per hour. The same bumping, crashing, occasional
flipping, and 3 wide
racing occurs just like in the NASCAR series. That sounds fun enough, but between
races there are also T- shirt giveaways, contests, music and great prizes.
Racing is scheduled for various
Friday and Saturday nights. Mark your calendar to meet and greet the drivers,
get free posters and autographs from them and then root on your favorite
drivers. Tickets range from $8 (kids 15-under) to $16 for the best seats in
the house. Not bad for a night of family entertainment. A variety of group plans
are also available so pull together your work, church or neighbors.
If you are a huge racing fan, there are several ways you may
want to get involved. They are always looking for new car owners and racers.
Now that sounds really cool! They say that race fans are the most sponsor
friendly fans, so think about sponsoring a car with your business logo. Lastly,
volunteers are welcome. Wouldn't it be neat to be a race official? What a great
way to get even closer to the drivers and the racing.
Some of us at Extra Attic are already planning an outing to
see the Arena Cars for ourselves! Check out their web site http://www.arenaracingusa.com, get your family and friends together and
make plans to check out Arena Racing in Richmond!
